Finding the Ideal Summer Camp: What to Consider

The summer season is just around the corner and parents make a decision about what camp best suits their children. There are many summer camps in Montreal; let’s dive into what to look for in a summer camp.

Is it centered on sports? Is there an arts program? Is there a leadership program? Is there a meal plan? How is this philosophy incorporated into the organization’s programs? Is it a bilingual camp?

These are questions to ask when evaluating the programming options of every camp. It is important to choose programming that will give children the opportunity to try different activities to discover their passions and develop their skills . Camps should help children to grow physically and emotionally while also learning social and problem-solving skills all while having fun. Summer camps are a place where children meet new friends, become part of new communities and where children feel safe and welcomed. In order to create a positive environment, a well-trained staff team is essential.

Camp Lumi incorporates all these elements into the camp experience. We offer an abundance of different activities ranging from sports, arts, and sciences as well as a leadership program for campers between the ages of 12 and 14. Camp Lumi provides a positive environment where campers are encouraged to discover new skills and interests they never knew they had. Our staff is composed of experienced teachers, who develop all programming to ensure that children are staying happy and active while also staying safe, as well as students studying in the field of education. Camp Lumi offers an optional lunch plan, uses the first class facilities at Lower Canada College, and provides campers with bilingual instruction.
